view dimples as being a smile’s best accessory. Dimples accentuate the smile
and give people a unique, youthful look. Some people are going to the extreme
of going under the knife just to achieve this look. One big plastic surgery
trend for 2017, and one that we won’t perform in our office, is the
dimplectomy, or an incision in the cheek to help one achieve the look of
dimples.

Although
the dimplectomy is a fairly new procedure, it is in great demand. Always
looking camera ready is not only a desire, but now a necessity with the
constant need to post to social media platforms such as Snapchat. Not only is
this dimple procedure becoming popular among women, but men too are opting in
to having it done as well. With the dimplectomy becoming increasingly popular,
people are now achieving that camera-ready look they’ve always desired.
Celebrity
Influence
Let’s
face it, we always aspire to look like our favorite celebrity, whether that be
a Hollywood actor, supermodel or rock star. Many are opting into procedures out
of inspiration from their favorite celebrities. Actresses like Kirsten Dunst
and Miranda Kerr both have that unique dimple look, and many women are
undergoing the dimplectomy in efforts to achieve that sought after look.
Not Everyone
Is Safe
Although
the dimplectomy is becoming ever so popular, it doesn’t mean it’s 100% safe.
This trend in plastic surgery is becoming more popular by the day, meaning more
plastic surgeons are offering the procedure. Before undergoing any plastic
surgery, ensure that your surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic
Surgery. There are surgeons out there that are involved in medical fraud, and
you should always be certain your surgeon has the proper training before
entrusting him or her with your life.
Although

on this fad, be careful when selecting a plastic surgeon to avoid improper
treatment and scarring.
